What Is a “Night Nurse”?
“Night nurse” is a common term many families use when searching for overnight newborn care—but it’s actually outdated and often misunderstood.
At Night Owl Infant Care Agency, our caregivers are not typically medical nurses, but highly trained professionals specializing in newborn and postpartum support.
Our team includes:
✨ Newborn Care Specialists (NCS)
✨ Postpartum Doulas (PPD)
✨ Registered Nurses (RN) – for specialized care needs
While most families are supported by NCS or postpartum doulas, we do have Registered Nurses on our team. RN support is typically reserved for families with medically fragile infants, preemies, or newborns with specialized medical needs.
Our Approach
We focus on evidence-based care, nurturing support, and family education—helping you build healthy routines while you recover and adjust to life with your newborn.
💜 Think of us as your overnight support system—so you can rest while we care.

Our Testimonials
What Are Clients Says

Ana and her team of newborn care specialists were a true cornerstone of support for our family. We entrusted Ana with our firstborn son a couple of years ago, and although I was initially hesitant to leave my baby with anyone other than myself or my husband, Ana put all of my worries at ease almost instantly. Her intentional, gentle, and loving approach gave us complete confidence that our son was in the best possible hands.

Before I met Aysia, I was struggling with breastfeeding and felt completely lost. My baby wouldn’t latch properly, and I didn’t have the knowledge or confidence to make it work. I was exhausted, frustrated, and even considered giving up. That’s when she stepped in and changed everything for me.

Ana was with our family from the first week we brought our son home from the hospital and we were so incredibly thankful to have her with us! She immediately made us feel comfortable knowing we could go to bed each night and have her in our sons room with him and tending to whatever he might need.

I highly recommend hiring them for your postpartum needs! Ana and her team made postpartum so easy for me and my family. I wish I would have known about them and hired them for my first delivery.

Absolutely fantastic! Analuisa was our postpartum night doula for two months. She was professional, caring, kind, reliable, and got along great with our baby. On nights she worked with us we were able to sleep easy, knowing our baby was well taken care of, happy, and safe.

Frequently Asked Questions
If you don’t see your question here, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help.
A Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) is a trained professional who specializes in overnight newborn care and early infant development. While the term “night nurse” is commonly used, it is outdated and can be misleading. Most overnight providers are not functioning as medical nurses — they are newborn specialists focused on safe sleep, feeding support, soothing techniques, and helping families establish healthy routines.
At Night Owl Infant & Family Care, some members of our team are Registered Nurses (RNs); however, not all overnight providers are nurses. Every professional we place is experienced in newborn care and trained to support families during the early postpartum period. Our services focus on non-medical newborn care and parent education, unless otherwise arranged with a licensed medical professional.
Our standard overnight newborn care follows a “sleep when baby sleeps” model. During overnight shifts, your provider cares for the baby’s needs — feeding, diapering, soothing, and settling — and rests when the baby is safely sleeping. This approach allows providers to remain alert and effective throughout the night while still ensuring attentive care.
For families seeking full-time or part-time ongoing support, we require a placement/replacement fee. This fee covers:
Yes. We are proud to offer Spanish-speaking support when available. We understand the importance of clear communication and culturally sensitive care, and we do our best to match families with providers who can communicate comfortably in Spanish.
